WHO OR WHAT IS GOD? WHO IS THE CREATOR?
Who is GodMy husband and I are deeply spiritual people, not religious, who commune with the Creator GOD continually as part of our extremely seeking, hungry nature that draws us along like a strong magnetic force. Our simple spirituality is more closely akin to Native American in many foundational ways. There is a reason for that, however, which we don’t need to address for this. We study many spiritual teachings from many quarters. Please keep our spiritual walk in mind as the backdrop for this talk. Ok? Please, don’t try to fit us into a “box”, however. Any box would only bust apart later as we grow. If ever there was a time in the history of humankind when people need a clear answer to this question, “WHO or WHAT IS GOD/CREATOR?” it is now. It is personally a bit shocking to us to look at the many versions of what various people believe God, or Creator, to be. Really like a spiritual smorgasbord. Religions, of course, have each created their own version of “God”. Some appear to serve the “God of War”, and some worship “the vengeful angry God”. All major religions are exclusive, denying entry into Paradise or Heaven to all except their own members. That’s sadly common. The movements outside of religion, who we have listened to and talked with for hours, also have a great variety of interesting “god-images”. Some people believe “God is a process”. Other persons in the “Enlightenment Movement” call God the “Great White Board” in the sky upon which you write whatever you want. Normally, they mean riches, of course. Rather like the proverbial “Genie in the bottle”. “Your-wish-is-my-command” type god. Reminds me of shopping for a new vehicle. Just pick out what color you want, what model, truck or sedan. What accessories would you like? In today’s world you can pick out the “God” of your choice, for whatever pleases the lifestyle you prefer. Sounds like a television commercial, huh? Others say “God is the Source” but in a way to imply all things were created by this mindless divine being who is a multiplying vast cosmic-amoebic life-form simply reproducing itself thoughtlessly. Loving, oh sure, but totally mindless, completely without laughter, tears, emotions or any other feelings. Just sort of a “love amoeba”. These people usually refer to the Divine Being as an “It”, or simply the Universe. Or, the Field. I’m not saying to never use those terms. I use them, but in a certain context only. What is wrong with referring to God as a “white board“, a process, an “It“, the Universe, or the Field? For us, it seems so cold, so sterile, almost robotic, mindless, and impersonal. How does the Universe hug you in it’s arms? We had already experienced God in a very personal, loving relationship long before these new terms became popular. And, boy! Am I glad we did. Like the Native American thought, we too say “The Great Spirit speaks to me in the wind, in the trees, in the beauty of nature, and His voice is always here with me.” Please don’t get me wrong. I’m no one’s judge. Oh, no. Not at all. We are all on our own journey, working out our own life mission, learning in our own way. Each person is an individual on his own path. No problem. Let each one speak as they feel comfortable with, and believe what each choses. There are many paths. This writing is primarily offered to the seekers who are hungry for a deeper, more encompassing, often euphoric, mystical life long experience with the Beloved Creator. We are completely caught up in the love relationship, sweet companionship, and divine wisdom that flows from the Beloved, and we just want to say that it’s available to each of you. We have our own experiences, feelings, and conclusions. So, I will share them. The Supreme Being created the Universe, the Field, and it works the way it does because it was created to perform that way, deliberately created. It is a fantastic feedback system, absolutely amazing in fairness, and precision. The Universe, the Field, the whole system of life is so absolutely fair and just. Sure it sort of runs on “auto-pilot”, except when Divine Intervention is necessary. The Universal Field system is an “it”. However, Creator is not an “it”. Creator is a Being, the Supreme Beloved Divine Being ~ with feelings, emotions, love of the purest kind, laughter, joy, a sense of humor, great compassion, all the fullest range of personality that anyone could ever think of on the good side. This is a Divine Person who wants, yes desires, a loving intimate, interactive relationship with His/Her children. Like the title of the book about Yogananda’s teachings “The Divine Romance”, this Creator desires this kind of love from the sons and daughters of Light. Personally, I love having Divine Parents Who hold me in their arms and comfort me when I cry, Who laugh with me when I’m laughing, Who delight over my accomplishments. Who send me delightful angelic beings, and spiritual beings who help, assist, heal, or make me laugh with their humor. Back to the modern verbiage and outlook on God… Others who are desiring enlightenment, and higher vibrations, call Creator “The One” which sounds ok, until you delve more deeply into it. At some point their “One” is a collection of consciousness composed of “Higher Beings”, or simply a group of some sort. For others, they say “it is advanced aliens from space”, a race of really intelligent beings who are about to return. “They’re the creators.” Don’t think so! We’ve heard and seen everything from a space-being to a beautifully carved statue overlaid with gold portrayed as “god”. Many and varied are the “gods” of humanity. Will the real Creator/God please stand up? Putting up a website where we talk about using spirituality, and prayer combined with energy modalities like EFT necessitates us making some clear statement of what we personally mean by that. If our experience does not please you, nor interest you, that is fine. We are putting this out for your information to benefit those who truly desire to know the answer to this question of who God is. This is a planet of free will, and we are all given the right to choose our own spiritual walk, or to not choose anything. If you desire to know more about who the Creator is, keep reading, please. However, if your mind is made up and you do not want to hear this, please click off the page. We are not here to argue, and for those who try, you will not engage us in it. Period. You choose, and we honor your right to do so. Please honor ours also. Our first premise is: Everything is created deliberately, on purpose by an intelligent, loving Creator. Everything has to come from somewhere, right? You do not get a creation, or even a big bang without having it come from something. Therefore, there must be a Source. Makes sense that if you follow a trail of created things, you end up finding the Creator. For example, I was having a pleasant conversation with a very nice contemporary Buddhist lady who was about to be ordained as a Buddhist Minister. I politely asked if I could ask her some questions. She gave delighted consent. Curiously, asking who she and her group prayed to, she responded “the divine spark within us all”. Ok. Good. Next polite question “Where did this divine spark come from?” “If we all have this divine spark, Who did it come from?” She paused quizzically, and with wonder said “I don’t think anyone has ever asked that before. I’ve never thought about it. I don’t know the answer.” Good answer, I thought. Very honest, very thoughtful. Dr. Wayne Dyer, who was giving a lecture we heard, gave an analogy which bears repeating right here. I’ll put it in my own words since I do not have a verbatim transcript of that talk. Comparing the divine spark in us to a drop of ocean water, Wayne paints the image of God’s love and power to the vast expanse of the ocean. Indeed, our Creator is like a vast Spirit-ocean, powerful, full of love, with huge waves coming in to the shore. Dr. Dyer also pointed out that if you remove a drop of water from that ocean, yes, it is divine, but powerless. He said you are only a drop -- you are not the ocean. The only way to be a part of the love and the power is to remain connected to the ocean, being a part of the ebb and flow, being a part of those beautiful waves ~ in union with the ocean ~ in union with the Creator. If you remove that drop of water pouring it out on the dry ground, it will be powerless to do anything on its own. It will dry up, without the life of the Union. We are the children of the Creator, but it is only through a continual union “communion” with Creator and Creation that we are empowered to live a life that is divinely inspired, joy-filled and creative. **Just a literary note here, we will use the personal pronoun “He” for the Creator to make it simple. “It” is disrespectful of the Divine Personage. We are in agreement that Creator is both male and female, Father and Mother, if you will. Ancient Text tells us “So God created Adam in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Nuff’ said about that. We’ll use He and you know now what that means.
